The church was built in the second third of the 14th century, along with the St. Mary's Hospital, founded around 1271. The choir was built before the nave. The projecting west tower, which burned down in 1805, was rebuilt in a squat form. The church was restored in 1962/1963 and elevated to a parish church in 1964.
