Based on the Order of the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army No. 0012/Org. of 9 February 1962 and the order of the commander of the 1st Corps of the Air Defense Corps No. 0030/Org. of 26 March 1962, on the basis of the disbanded 96th and 89th anti-aircraft artillery regiments, the formation of missile divisions of the Silesian Division began: 15th Dr. OP m. Zawiercie, 16th Dr. OP m. Bukowno, 17th Dr. OP m. Oświęcim, 18th Dr. OP m. Pszczyna and 20th dt OP m. Olkusz.
