Peat was once mined here. There is also a rest area behind the holes (see pictures).
The bridge over the ditch, the handrails at the holes and the rest area were renewed or newly created in summer 18.

Hiking
The little hike to the Eighth Water is actually worth it in any weather, unless you have a teenage boy with you - they could resent the hike if it is raining or drizzling. I speak from experience here.
