If you walk north from Zwart Water (also known as Black Water) towards Begijnenvijver, you'll pass a mosaic of grasslands, hedgerows, copses, and grain fields. This is where the sources of the Zwarte Beek stream lie. The trail more or less follows the watershed between the Zwarte Beek, which flows in the Scheldt basin, and the Bollissenbeek, which lies in the Meuse basin. The stream is managed by Natuurpunt and local farmers, resulting in a wealth of birds and butterflies.
