If you're looking for a serious challenge, the Montana Mountain/Queen Valley OHV Trail offers a difficult hiking experience spanning 50.4 miles (81.2 km). You will gain 4868 feet (1484 metres) in elevation over an estimated 22 hours and 36 minutes, traversing a dynamic landscape. Early on, you'll encounter abundant saguaro cactus and the striking natural stone arch known as Elephant Arch. As you climb, the scenery shifts from arid desert to a great pine tree forest at the summit of Montana Mountain, providing panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and desert.

Planning your visit requires awareness that this route is primarily an OHV trail, so you will share the path with off-road vehicles. Some sections are not wide enough for two vehicles, which means you need to exercise caution. The trail forms a substantial loop, making it well-suited for a multi-day backpacking trip. You will find numerous camping spots along the way, allowing you to break up the extensive journey.

Beyond the natural beauty, the trail offers glimpses into the region's past. As you hike, keep an eye out for remnants of ranching, including an old stone cabin, and historic mining features scattered along the route.
