The Schaumburger Ritter inn is probably the oldest inn in the present-day urban area of Rinteln. It is even older than the village of Rosenthal (now Schaumburg), to which it belonged for centuries. Farmers, suppliers and mercenaries who paid their services and taxes are said to have stopped here as early as the 15th century. The current building dates mainly from the middle of the 19th century.
