The Green Butte Trail starts at the Old Ski Bowl and leads to a stunning viewpoint of Mount Shasta. You can hike all the way or keep it shorter by hiking a loop. Either way, it is a breathtaking venture into the fascinating volcanic landscape. If you stay below 10,000 feet (which the Green Butte Trail does), a wilderness permit is not necessary.
