The 36-meter observation tower named after rotmistrz Witold Pilecki is located on Skała hill in Chełmek (Oświęcim county) and has been accessible to visitors since April 2026. It offers a panorama of the Oświęcim Basin, the Beskids, and the Tatras. The facility is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The tower is named after rotmistrz Witold Pilecki. The location is not accidental – it was precisely through Chełmek and the surrounding forests that Pilecki's escape route from the KL Auschwitz camp ran in 1943. At the base of the tower, there is a plaque commemorating this event.
