The Schlossbergstiege is a historic staircase with 260 steps leading from the city center up to the Grazer Schlossberg. During the ascent, beautiful views of the old town repeatedly open up. Once at the top, you reach the Grazer Uhrturm, the city's most famous landmark. The Uhrturm dates back to the 13th century and is particularly known for its unusual clock hands – the large hand indicates the hours, the small one the minutes. From here, you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view over Graz.

The Schlossbergsteig consists of five superimposed staircase sections with a total of 260 steps, connecting Schlossbergplatz with the Clock Tower.

Construction of the ascent began in 1914, was suspended during World War I, and was subsequently completed in 1916.

The ceremonial opening took place on June 1, 1918, under the name "Kriegssteig" (War Trail). From 1924 to 1928, it was expanded to include the "Jubiläums-Steig" (Anniversary Trail) along the western cliffs.

The ascent is definitely worth it, as it offers a magnificent view over the rooftops of Graz.
