The Dogana Veneta is a famous 14th century building in the main square of Lazise, right next to the ancient port. This prestigious building from the time of the Republic of Venice served as a customs building for trade with Lombardy. Ships had to pass under the imposing arches of the façade before entering the port from the side.
With the end of the Republic of Venice, the building lost this function, access from the lake was closed, and the building took on other functions, such as an arsenal.
