The church of San Pietro d'Alcantara is located in the centre of Villa Campanile. The church was built at the beginning of the twentieth century.
The church's bell tower, which rises so high above the low houses of the hamlet that it is a recognisable architectural element that gave its name to the town, was built from 6 September 1948, with the laying of the foundation stone by Monsignor Felice Beccaro. Made of stone from the quarries of Filettolé, the work was completed in 1951. The three bells were blessed on 7 September of that year by Bishop Dino Romoli.
