With its high church tower, which can be seen from far away, the Rapperswil church with its neo-Gothic architectural style is considered the "cathedral of the Seeland". It was built between 1860 and 1862 in the style of the medieval architecture with a front tower, representative entrance portal, stepped gable, pinnacles, polygonal choir closure and star and net vaults. The impressive building is one of the rare neo-Gothic country churches in the canton of Bern and is of outstanding importance for the Rapperswil townscape.
