Here, the levada briefly leaves its level course and winds its way up old stone steps through the dense laurel forest of the Madeira Natural Park. The water babbles right beside you as you climb between ferns, mosses, and rock faces, repeatedly catching magnificent glimpses into the green gorge. A short but intense section that truly captures the wild, pristine side of Madeira.
