In the course of the secularization of 1802/03 by Napoleon, the prince-bishop's winery fell to the young Grand Duchy of Baden and became the first wine-growing domain in Germany as the "Großherzoglich-Badische Domainkellerei". It was only after the Second World War that it was renamed the state winery. Today, the company belongs to the state of Baden-Württemberg and, as a state company, reports to the Ministry of Finance
