The Goldsteig begins at the end of the Marktredwitz Auenpark. At 660 kilometers, it is the longest and most diverse of Germany's quality trails. There are also around 840 kilometers of loops, alternatives and access routes in eastern Bavaria and Bohemia. With feeder routes and cross-connections, a 2000 km long international hiking trail network with 13 border crossings has been created. The route leads through the fascinating, varied low mountain landscapes of the Upper Palatinate Forest and the Bavarian Forest to Passau. Its symbol is a winding yellow path on a white background.

The Goldsteig, with a total of 660 kilometers, is the longest and one of the most diverse certified hiking trails in Germany. It leads from Marktredwitz in the Fichtelgebirge to Passau, crossing the Oberpfälzer Wald and the Bavarian Forest.
