In 1887, Francisco Rico Lucas, then mayor of Pinoso, asked Alicante architect José Guardiola Picó for a clock tower project.
The clock was purchased in Madrid in 1899 for 11,000 pesetas and consists of the mechanism, three bells and four dials as well as the wrought iron bell.
The watch is still manual and works with three weights: 500, 200 and 100 kilos. The first is for the hours, the middle for the quarter hours and the third ensures the ticking of the clock, which has to be wound every 24 hours.
