Sustainability in action: While playing in the garden in 1985, a few children kicked a chestnut into the ground, which then grew into a tree. 5 years later it was planted in this spot by the Backert family (hence: Backerts chestnut) because it was too big for the garden. The tree now produces around 200 chestnuts annually.
