The Prairie Queen Lake – Prairie Queen Trailhead loop offers a delightful touring cycling experience, circling the picturesque 135-acre Prairie Queen Lake. You'll enjoy continuous scenic views of the water, wetlands, and native grasses from mostly paved surfaces, occasionally crossing wooden bridges. The route is generally easy, with gently rolling terrain, making it a perfect choice for a relaxed outing.
This 6.8-mile (10.9 km) loop has a minimal elevation gain of 271 feet (83 metres) and can be completed in about 39 minutes, making it very accessible for beginners and families. The Prairie Queen Trailhead is easy to find, and the recreation area provides ample parking. Since shade is limited, plan your ride for cooler parts of the day or during milder seasons to fully enjoy the experience.
Prairie Queen Lake was constructed in 2015 as a flood control project, but it was also designed to be a hub for recreational activities. Beyond cycling, you can enjoy picnicking, wildlife viewing, fishing, and even disc golf or pickleball within the 335-acre park. It's a modern, well-maintained area offering a variety of ways to enjoy the outdoors near Richland I Precinct.
