"At this point in the former Bürgerbräukeller, the carpenter Johann Georg Elser attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler on November 8, 1939. He wanted to put an end to the National Socialists' terror regime. The plan failed. Johann Georg Elser was killed after 5 1/2 years in prison on April 9, 1945 in the Dachau concentration camp."
