The Wichernkirche is Berlin's most “moving” half-timbered church. It was originally inaugurated in 1897 in Westend am Spandauer Damm as the Westend Chapel and, after its use there ended, it was put into service in Siemensstadt am Rohrdamm in 1908 as the Siemensstadt Chapel. At its current location in Hakenfelde, it was inaugurated in 1932 and named after Johann Hinrich Wichern, the founder of the nearby Johannesstift.

The Evangelical Wichernkirche was built in 1896/97. As a so-called "wandering church" it was previously in two other places. The conversion and dedication to Hakenfelde as a district of Spandau took place as the Wichern chapel in 1932. It was named after Johann Hinrich Wichern (1808-1881), the founder of church social work and the Johannesstiftes.
