A fun and fast 2.5 mile loop that crosses over some creeks and rocky sections. It is easily can be looped in as part of a larger loop of the popular Eagle Valley and Declue Trail loops.

I liked this section because it wasn’t on the side of the hill as much as some of the other trails. That said, there are plenty of rocks and roots and features. I rode down from the main parking lot and enjoyed the flow. The lowest section looked like it would be very wet in the rain and is very eroded, the trail is now along side a wide ditch from the runoff. Careful if it’s wet.

Dogwood Trail – Greensfelder Park loop from Six Flags St. Louis

    200m

The Dogwood Trail in Greensfelder Park offers a lively mountain biking experience, winding through forested hillsides with a natural earthen treadway. You'll encounter a mix of fast, flowy singletrack and engaging features like banked S-turns, rock outcroppings, and exposed roots. Keep an eye out for glimpses of the Six Flags rollercoasters in the distance as you navigate the varied terrain, which includes small creek crossings and sections that feel surprisingly mountainous for Missouri.

Planning your ride on this 7.8-mile (12.5 km) loop is straightforward, with parking available at Greensfelder Park. The trail is multi-use, so be prepared to share with hikers and equestrians, yielding to horses by dismounting and moving to the downhill side. Given the hilly nature, it's wise to allow 2-3 days for the trail to dry after rain, as lower-lying sections can hold moisture.

This easy route, with its 663 feet (202 metres) of elevation gain and estimated 1 hour and 11 minutes duration, is an excellent introduction to Greensfelder Park's trails and a great spot to hone your mountain biking skills. The Dogwood Trail was significantly rerouted to meet IMBA standards, ensuring a quality ride, and it can be easily combined with other park trails like DeClue for longer adventures.
