The abandoned quarry outside of El Palmar is now a paradise for various types of cacti and succulents. The color of the rock varies between red, brown and black.

Hiking

The partially eroded mountain in Palmar looks really surreal. The hill is of volcanic origin and was excavated about 30 years ago, creating the three deep cuts. You can even see the scratch marks on the excavator shovel. The stone is volcanic, ultra-light and, if you look closely, it glitters in purple-turquoise.
