Hiking

The bridge used to carry the Bad Freienwalde-Angermünde railway line. It is very practical because it allows hikes away from the main road. Originally, two railway lines even crossed the Oder here. Bad Freienwalde-Angermünde (closed in 1995) and Bad Freienwalde-Zehden (section in German territory closed in 1967). Since the bridge of the Angermünde line was blown up after the war, the track was diverted onto the bridge of the Zehden line. The last tracks were only dismantled in 2009. A picture from 1950, with today's bridge on the right, can be seen here: klauserbeck.de/Kilometrierung/Tabelle12/BadFreienwaldeZehden/Abzw-Oderbruecke-um-1950-Slg-Manske.jpg

Hiking

It looks great, but is no longer used as a railway bridge. The railway used to chug along here from Neuenhagen to Bad Freienwalde. Today, it's without rails, with iron plates on the wooden beams, which in turn rest on a steel structure. Walking across it gives you quite a bounce. The path to the north is usually overgrown in summer.

Hiking

The former Freienwalde–Zehden railway line, now Cedynia in Poland, connects the two rivers. After 1945, the line was interrupted due to the Oder-Neisse line, which became the new border. Operations have been suspended since the mid-1960s.
A good opportunity to cross the old Oder on foot or by bike.
