Hiking
The ‘Decumanus Maximus’ of Petra (Pillar Street) runs through the center of Petra. The course of the road follows the standard Roman pattern of an east-west decumanus, but without the normal cardo maximus (north-south axis). Colonnade Street leads from the theater to Qasr al Bint. In ancient Petra, the street was flanked by shops. It was originally built by the Nabataeans and later renovated during the Roman occupation.
