There are a handful of alpine lakes around the trail as you crest the ridge and intersect with the Continental Divide Trail. Most of the peaks around you remain unnamed, but you can see Chief Mountain to the northwest and Knife Edge is visible once you hike around the peak to your east.

Prepare for a challenging jogging experience on the Williams Creek Trail, covering 20.0 miles (32.1 km) with a significant 3843 feet (1171 metres) of elevation gain. This difficult route, estimated to take 4 hours and 27 minutes, leads you through varied landscapes. You will jog past young aspens and into expansive meadows, especially vibrant with yellow wildflowers in spring. As you climb, expect rewarding views of forests and mountains.

This route demands very good fitness due to its considerable length and elevation changes. Be ready for varied terrain, which can include rocky slopes and potential mud holes, particularly after rain. It is also wise to be aware of local wildlife and consider carrying bear spray in this remote Colorado wilderness.

Located within the San Juan National Forest, the trail offers a remote and rewarding experience. You might spot wildlife such as bear, elk, or moose during your journey. The route eventually connects with the Continental Divide Trail, providing a unique opportunity to explore further into the backcountry.
