This is the bigger of the two lakes forming the Silver Lake Reservoir Complex. It takes its name from Herman Silver, a member of the Water Board Commission, and subsequently the surrounding neighborhood was also named after it. A fun fact about this pleasant lake is that it appeared in the movie "Under the Silver Lake".

Silver Lake Reservoir is one of two reservoirs in the Silver Lake Reservoir Complex. The other is Ivanhoe Reservoir and the two are divided by a concrete spillway.
