The Rock Lake Trail Loop invites you into a tranquil world of winding singletrack and reflective waters within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. This 9.4-mile (15.2 km) hiking trail is rated moderate, guiding you through dense woodlands and past several backcountry lakes, including the beautiful Rock Lake itself. You will experience a mix of mellow sections and some more rugged, climbing parts, especially closer to the trailhead from intersection N29, making it a varied and engaging journey.
Planning your Rock Lake Trail Loop hiking adventure is simple, but be prepared for a $5 daily use fee required at the trailhead. The route is well-suited for a half-day excursion, taking approximately 4 hours and 2 minutes to complete. With 521 feet (159 metres) of elevation gain, it offers a good workout without being overly strenuous, making it accessible for many hikers.
This trail system is a highlight of the Bayfield County area, known for its interconnected routes and abundant natural features.
