You'll need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle with high ground clearance to reach the trailhead of this hike, off Forest Road 103. But it's worth it if you want a little-used access to popular routes near Medicine Bow Peak, or a less-crowded tie-in to the Sheep Creek Trail, with stops by Quealy Lake and the larger Reservoir Lake along the way. Due to the rough road access this is a summer-only trail, perhaps from July through October in a typical year.

Mountain biking
Although this challenging singletrack doesn't get a lot of traffic (probably because you need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle with high ground clearance to reach the trailhead), it's a fun one. You'll grind out some elevation gain on the way up, then gain it all back on the way down again. If you want a longer ride, this trail also links in with the Gap Lakes Trail and beyond.
