Old Castle Down is a beautiful open area of calcareous grassland, acid grassland and heathland on limestone situated between the villages of St Brides Major and Ewenny in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Due to its wide range of vegetation types and rare species, the area has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The hilltop vantage point provides excellent views over the stunning surrounding landscape and villages of the Vale, including over the disused Duchy Quarry, which exposes Carboniferous rocks that date back 340 million years!
