Embark on the easy Lloyd's Lake Loop, a pleasant hike offering continuous views of the turquoise Lloyd's Lake. This 2.3-mile (3.7 km) route takes you around the water, with the majestic Abajo Mountains providing a stunning backdrop. You'll gain a gentle 75 feet (23 metres) in elevation, making it a relaxing walk that typically takes about 57 minutes to complete. The well-maintained path is mostly exposed to the sun, so you can enjoy the open skies and expansive scenery. Keep an eye out for mule deer and various waterfowl near the water's edge as you make your way around.

To access the loop, head to the Loyds Lake Recreational Area in Monticello, Utah, where you'll find readily available parking. The recreational area also provides amenities like picnic tables, grills, and a pavilion, perfect for a post-hike meal. While the trail is generally easy to manage, some sections can be sandy, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Remember to bring plenty of water, as the route offers limited shade and is largely under full sun.

This loop is nestled within the Loyds Lake Recreational Area, a popular spot for outdoor activities in Monticello. The trail's continuous views of the lake, set against the impressive Abajo Mountains, make it a notable feature of the region. It provides a serene environment to observe local wildlife, including mule deer and various bird species that frequent the lake. The area's facilities also make it a convenient destination for a day out with family or friends.
