Hiking

In the High Middle Ages there was a small Romanesque castle on the mountain peak, which was also known as "Hardenberg" until the 18th century. Around 1860 there was a wooden lookout tower on its top. In 1871 an inn was built on this site, which is still there today. The tower offers a wonderful all-round view of the Brocken, the poor people's mountain with the Kaiserturm as well as the town and castle of Wernigerode
