Embark on the Alta Via della Valmalenco - Stage 7, a difficult hiking route that challenges you with 13.8 miles (22.2 km) of varied alpine terrain. You will gain 3257 feet (993 metres) in elevation over an estimated 8 hours and 33 minutes. The trail leads you through glacial cirques and across streams via charming wooden footbridges. From the Campagneda Pass, you can enjoy sweeping panoramic views stretching towards Val Poschiavo and distant mountain ranges. As you descend, you'll pass a series of serene small lakes before reaching Alpe Prabello, where traditional shepherd's buildings dot the landscape.
This stage is part of a longer hut-to-hut trek, so prepare for high-altitude conditions, as much of the route is above the treeline. Good physical training and sure-footedness are essential for safely navigating the high passes and varied terrain. Always check local weather and trail conditions before you set out, especially concerning snow or ice at higher elevations. Plan your start time to allow ample daylight for the full 8 hours and 33 minutes of hiking.
