Mr. ROBERT, then a veterinarian in Landrecies, organized the local resistance from March 1942, relying on his clientele. He is the representative of the O.C.M (Civil and Military Organization) associated with Colonel REMY and with London.
On his initiative as mayor of Landrecies from 1945 to 1947 and leader of the resistance in Avesnois, this monument was erected in memory of 38 resistance fighters who fell in the Landrecies sector or died during deportation, resistance fighters arrested, deported and then released from the Buchemwald and Mauthausen camps.
