The path that leads to the Nice refuge and to Lac Long is one of the passages of the salt route, used since Antiquity to transport salt from Provence to Piedmont.

Located at 2,566 meters above sea level, Long Lake is below a chain that includes several peaks exceeding 3,000 meters. Its banks therefore offer a marvelous spectacle and the opportunity to take a nice break.

Hiking
Magnificent hike lasting 6 hours including 2 hours in the snow AR between the Mur des Italians and the long lake. May 11. The marking is light but the trail is well marked. We have never seen so many ibexes, chamois and marmots.
