Wonderful panoramic view from the Lombardsbrücke. It marks the old course of the city fortification, which separated the Outer Alster from the Binnenalster.

The area on the Hamburg Inner Alster is characterized by the streets and houses around them, you can shop on Jungfernstieg and Ballindamm or enjoy a great view of the city from the new Jungfernstieg and on the Lombard Bridge. Created in 1235 when the Alster river was dammed up at this point in order to be able to operate a grain mill. The Alster fountain pontoon is used for a beautiful Christmas tree in winter. With an area of around 60 hectares and each around 400 m long sides, it can be circumnavigated quite quickly.
