The Casina di Piana refuge is located at the entrance to Val Piana, the first side valley south of Val Grosina, inserted in the western Rhaetian Alps in the direction of Val Poschiavo. The strategic position along the Sentiero Italia allows various excursions towards Switzerland and the nearby Grosina and Saiento valleys, as well as towards the numerous surrounding peaks.
The building, owned by the Municipality of Grosotto, has recently been enlarged and renovated. Most of the trails in this area are well maintained and not particularly technically difficult, making running a pleasure.
