Beautiful building that served as a Prussian district court until the 19th century. Since the court reform and the relocation of the district court to Badbergen, the building has served as a tax office – with a modern extension at the rear.
The Quakenbrück tax office is one of the most popular tax offices in Lower Saxony – which is easy to believe when you look at the beautiful facade. At Christmas time, all the windows are beautifully illuminated. In front of the building stands the "Poor Taxpayer" by Gerd Ruwe, a gifted artist from Osnabrück.
