    Hiking

the ridge path that connects the Crocette to the Picco del Circeo offers a splendid panorama of the sea and the entire Pontine countryside. Attention: the path has rocks and exposed sections. Suitable footwear and some hiking knowledge are required. With the exception of the first wooded section, the rest of the route is completely exposed to the sun.

    Hiking

Path 750 is beautiful, a path with little slope but nevertheless very challenging.

    650m

Embark on the difficult Sentiero dell'Uliveto e del Picco di Circe loop, a challenging hike spanning 7.9 miles (12.7 km) with a significant 2123 feet (647 metres) of elevation gain. This route typically takes around 4 hours and 58 minutes to complete, leading you through Mediterranean scrub and ancient forests to the rocky, alpine-like summit of Picco di Circe. From the top, you'll be rewarded with immense panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, including the Pontine Islands and the Gulf of Naples, making the strenuous ascent truly worthwhile. The terrain is demanding, featuring many rocks and sections that require scrambling.

Before you head out, be aware that this trail is classified as difficult and requires good fitness, sure-footedness, sturdy shoes, and some alpine experience. It is not recommended on rainy days or after heavy rainfall due to potentially muddy and exposed sections. Always check for the latest information regarding closures or restrictions, especially for parts like the path from Torre Paola, which may undergo maintenance. Consider a guided excursion if you are not an experienced hiker.

This trail offers more than just a physical challenge; it's steeped in history and legend within the Circeo National Park. Monte Circeo is famously linked to the sorceress Circe from Homer's Odyssey. As you traverse the route, particularly along the Sentiero dell'Uliveto, you'll encounter traces of ancient megalithic walls, Roman fortifications, and the remains of Roman villas, showcasing the area's rich past. The diverse ecosystems, from olive groves to dense forests, highlight the unique natural environment of the promontory.
