The trail offers panoramic views from high-altitude plains, towering mountains, and ancient forests. Be prepared for demanding terrain that requires excellent fitness and advanced riding skills; some sections may be so steep or technical that you might need to push your bike. The technical difficulty often corresponds to STS S2 or even S3-S6, indicating larger roots, stones, tight turns, and slopes up to 70%. For longer stays or emergencies, Bivacco Gaudolino is a fully equipped shelter available to travelers in the area.
This route takes you through Pollino National Park, Italy's largest national park and a UNESCO Global Geopark. The park is known for its unique geological formations, including dolomitic rocks and extensive karst morphology, along with numerous rivers and dense woodlands. You will experience untouched nature, varied landscapes, ancient beech woods, and high-altitude pastures, with some paths tracing ancient routes and mule tracks.
