The island is only open to explore between March through to October. Although the ferries run regularly, the times are dependant on the seasons so check out this website for official times so you can pre-plan your trip nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/dorset/brownsea-island/booking-your-visit-and-travelling-to-brownsea-island
Entrance to the island itself is free for those holding a National Trust membership, but for those who don't, there will be a small fee on arrival.
