Between 1880 and 1882 this was a place for luxurious water treatments and spas like turkish baths and seawater pools since the Victorians believed water could cure all ills. There should have been a golf course and stables, a concert hall and greenhouses. Even gas works exclusively to provide heat and light. But the project became way too expansive and never finished.
Today it is an interesting place to explore besides the well-known landmarks. There is also a great viewpoint close to the ruins.
