Poaching stories - Josef Holl and Blasius Stotz: Both lived at a time when poaching in the bushes was commonplace. Holl got away with the shock in 1855 after poachers had hung the forest ranger upside down in an anthill. As a thank you, he donated a wayside shrine in the forest near Mickhausen (above). The 19-year-old Blasius Stotz, on the other hand, was caught poaching - not far from Itzlishofen, just three years later when a hunter's bullet was fatal. This Marterl (below) at the Bibersee near Eisbrünnele reminds of his fate.
