The sundial was made by the Föhr stonemason Markus Thiessen.
A pitchfork leans against a stone hay bale and casts its shadow on the digits, two other stone hay bales lie next to it.
The sundial shows the true local time according to the position of the sun in the sky, and since the sun does not "move" evenly, but moves its orbits sometimes slower and sometimes faster, the clock can be up to a quarter of an hour ahead or behind.
