Known as 'Catalan Nice', it was the place chosen for many years by the Barcelona bourgeoisie to spend the summer. Hence, Caldetes is full of beautiful modernist houses, gardens with towers, pines and carob trees, all downhill, pouring over the sea in a slow and graceful, distinguished way. Caldetes was luxury and splendor, glitter and tinsel: the Colón Hotel, now closed after a failed renovation, was a casino where Catalan textile industrialists went to gamble their eyelashes, eyebrows and eyeballs, to the point that they had to enable a small airport where the players' planes landed.
