    Hiking

Free shuttle service is available on the Going-to-the-Road Sun. I would recommend using the shuttle if you want to make A-B hikes in this area like Siyeh Bend - Sunrift Gorge. Parking is available near both stops, but you could also take the shuttle.

For actual running time I'd recommend checking out the official website:

Embark on the Siyeh Pass Trail to Preston Park, a moderate hike covering 3.7 miles (5.9 km) with an elevation gain of 1628 feet (496 metres). You can expect to complete this route in about 1 hour and 59 minutes. The journey begins in a dense forest of fir and spruce, gradually opening up to expansive meadows. A highlight is Preston Park itself, a stunning glacially-carved valley where you will find vibrant green meadows, abundant wildflowers, and a small lake, all set against the backdrop of towering peaks like Mount Siyeh.

When planning your visit, be aware that this trail involves significant climbing and some steep sections. Snow can linger into early summer, so always check current conditions before you head out. This area is also known for its grizzly bear population, so carrying bear spray and knowing how to use it is essential for your safety. Consider an early start to enjoy the tranquility and avoid potential crowds.

This route offers a unique glimpse into the alpine environment of Glacier National Park. Preston Park, with its rich display of wildflowers, showcases the park's diverse ecosystem. The transition from dense forest to open alpine terrain provides a varied hiking experience, highlighting the geological forces that shaped this remarkable landscape. It is a great way to experience the park's natural beauty and wildlife.
