The name Wolf Gerlach may not mean anything to everyone, but "Mainzelmännchen" certainly does. The little men from ZDF have been able to put a smile on everyone's face ever since.
Wolf Gerlach is their "father" or inventor. The little men first appeared on television in 1963 as commercial breakers.
From 1989 until his death in 2012, Wolf Gerlach lived in Bad Zwischenahn.
A monument was erected in Bad Zwischenahn's spa park in honor of him and the little Mainzelmännchen in 2013.
