    Hiking

Just off the McKenzie River Trail, a family-friendly loop trail takes you to the impressive Sahalie and Koosah Falls. The latter one drops 70 feet into a blue pool and is a great destination on a hot summer day.

This a perfect alternative to the busy Sahalie Falls due to its lesser known presence. Parking is much easier and more available. Only downside is that there is no really available restroom (at least that I am aware of). You can easily hike up to Sahalie Falls using the loop trail, as well.

Embark on an easy hike along the Waterfalls Loop Trail, a 2.4-mile (3.9 km) route that takes about 1 hour and 7 minutes to complete. You will gain 322 feet (98 metres) as you explore the lush environment. The path winds through an old-growth conifer forest, where moss-covered boulders line the way. You will encounter the powerful Sahalie Falls and the impressive Koosah Falls, feeling the mist from the cascades as you get close to the water. The vibrant blue McKenzie River also makes an appearance, adding to the scenic beauty. This trail offers a refreshing outdoor experience for all skill levels.

Parking is available right at the trailhead, making access straightforward for your visit. While this is an easy trail, be prepared for potential snow cover during winter months, which can make navigation challenging. For the best views of the waterfalls and comfortable hiking conditions, consider visiting in early summer. The water flow is typically at its peak then, offering a more dramatic experience.

This loop trail offers a unique glimpse into the region's natural history within the Willamette National Forest. Beyond the stunning waterfalls, you will notice interesting lava rock formations scattered throughout the landscape, remnants of ancient volcanic activity. The trail's path through an old-growth conifer forest provides a sense of timelessness, showcasing the rich ecosystem of the area.
