The Naticook Lake – Wasserman Park loop offers a diverse mountain biking experience, weaving through classic New England forested landscapes with mossy boulders and picturesque views of Naticook Lake. You'll navigate a mix of unpaved wooded paths, old logging roads, and some singletrack sections that include rocky and rooty terrain. Keep an eye out for Blueberry Island in the middle of Naticook Lake as you ride, adding a charming visual landmark to your journey.
This moderate 14.3-mile (23.1 km) mountain biking route features 940 feet (287 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 1 hour and 55 minutes to complete. Parking is conveniently available at Wasserman Park, and you won't need any permits or have to pay fees to access the trails. It's a great option for a morning or afternoon ride, especially during the spring and fall when the weather is most agreeable.
Beyond the biking, the Wasserman Conservation Area is an 88-acre forested space with significant shoreline on Naticook Lake, managed for conservation. The lake itself allows for combining your ride with other activities like paddling, as facilities are available for kayaking and paddleboarding. This area also holds historical significance, having been inhabited by Native Americans thousands of years ago, adding a layer of depth to your outdoor adventure.
