    Hiking

In order to solve some legendary secrets or crimes, at least in the imaginative and exciting world of crime fiction, not only the police are needed, but of course a master detective. And who, to ask this question - admittedly purely rhetorical at this point - could be better suited to the task than the legendary resident of this world-famous address: 221b Baker Street in London.
In my - admittedly purely subjective - opinion, the writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930) and his Sherlock Holmes novels belong on every well-stocked crime fiction shelf.

When the "Sherlock Holmes" stories were first published, street numbers in Baker Street did not go as high as 221. The street number 221B was assigned to the Sherlock Holmes Museum on 27 March 1990 (replacing the logical address 239 Baker Street) when the Leader of Westminster City Council, Shirley Porter, unveiled a blue plaque signifying the address of 221B Baker Street.

Embark on the Jubilee Greenway: Regent's Park and Canal Loop, a moderate hiking route that offers a delightful blend of London's urban charm and green spaces. You will follow the historic Regent's Canal, passing by the vibrant Little Venice with its unique moored boats, before entering the expansive Regent's Park. This 5.5-mile (8.8 km) loop involves a gentle 140 feet (43 metres) of elevation gain, making it a comfortable hike that takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete.

Planning your visit is straightforward, as the trail uses established paths suitable for walking. While the route is mostly flat, be aware that some access points to the canal, such as near Warwick Avenue tube station, might not be step-free. The entire Jubilee Greenway is well-marked with distinctive recycled glass pavement slabs, so you can easily navigate your way through the city.

This route is a fantastic way to experience London's unique character, combining picturesque waterways with significant parkland. As you hike through Regent's Park, you will also get glimpses of the famous London Zoo, adding another layer of interest to your journey. It's a perfect choice if you want to explore a mix of natural and urban landmarks within the city.
