Located in one of the most beautiful villages in the Axarquía, Frigiliana, the Church of San Antonio de Padua has a simple yet elegant structure that makes it stand out in the middle of the city. A relevant element of the exterior architecture is the bell tower, consisting of three floors and covered with clay tiles, on which the clock stands on a small protrusion. We come across a Renaissance style church whose coffered ceiling, restored a few years ago, makes the complex a very welcoming place.

Anthony of Padua * around 1195 (the date of birth is unknown; traditionally August 15 is given; the year of birth is also sometimes assumed to be 1193, 1191 or "around 1188") in Lisbon; † June 13, 1231 in Arcella near Padua), sometimes also called Anthony of Lisbon or Anthony of the Child Jesus, was a Portuguese priest of the
Franciscan Order. He is considered a saint and church teacher in the Roman Catholic Church
revered.
